The annual Arnold Starr Lecture was established in 2010 to honor the founding chair of the UCI Department of Neurology. In 1977, Dr. Starr became the first department chair, helping it grow and gain national and international recognition for its clinical and research achievements. Please join the UCI School of Medicine and the local hearing community for a beautiful exhibition and educational lecture exploring the history of auditory neuropathy and the latest research. Maoli Duan, MD, PhD
Dr. Maoli Duan is a global collaborator and speaker, whose research focuses on stem cell/gene therapy, noise and drug-induced hearing loss and their protection and treatment. His clinical work focuses on sudden deafness, sensori-neural hearing loss, auditory neuropathy, vestibular disorders, and earlier intervention and diagnosis of infant and child hearing loss. He was published in more than 70 articles in international journals such as Neurology and PNAS.
